Terms of Service
Last updated: February 27, 2026
1. What Applyr is
Applyr is a web application that helps developers write and tailor a one page, McDowell format resume using material you provide (an existing resume, notes in your own words, or your public GitHub activity) alongside a job description you supply. Applyr scores how well a resume matches a given job description and shows you the specific gaps behind that score.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Applyr (the "Service"), operated by Applyr ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Accounts
Most of Applyr requires an account, created through Clerk, our authentication provider. You can sign up with an email or with Google. You are responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping your credentials secure. You must provide accurate information and be old enough to enter into a binding agreement in your jurisdiction.
The free public format scan at /scan does not require an account: you can run it anonymously, as described in our Privacy Policy.
3. Free tier and the Pro subscription
Applyr offers a free tier and a paid Pro subscription:
- Free: anyone can run the public format scan without an account. Once you create an account, you get one lifetime match score against a real job description, at no cost, along with the ability to build and save a base resume.
- Pro: a paid subscription that unlocks unlimited scoring and tailoring, AI rewrites to the McDowell standard, PDF downloads of your polished resume, and higher daily usage limits. Pro is billed through Stripe, our payment processor, either monthly or every six months at a lower effective monthly rate. Current pricing is shown on our pricing page at the time you subscribe.
We may change what is included in the free tier or in Pro going forward, with notice as described in Section 12.
4. Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel your Pro subscription at any time from the Manage billing link in your account settings, which opens a Stripe-hosted billing portal. When you cancel, your Pro access continues until the end of the period you already paid for, and your subscription will not renew after that.
If you believe you were charged in error, or want to request a refund, contact us at youcefbenab@gmail.com within 14 days of the charge. We review refund requests on a case by case basis.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or to harass, defraud, or impersonate anyone.
- Attempt to circumvent usage limits, the paywall, or account restrictions.
- Scrape, crawl, or otherwise access the Service through automated means outside of normal browser use, or resell access to the Service.
- Interfere with the Service's infrastructure, probe it for vulnerabilities, or attempt to disrupt it for other users.
- Upload material you do not have the right to use, or that infringes someone else's rights.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
6. AI generated content and your responsibility
Applyr uses AI models to write, rewrite, and score resume content based on the material you provide (your own words, an uploaded resume, or public GitHub data you choose to import). The Service is designed to sharpen and reformat evidence you already have; it is not designed to invent experience you do not have.
Even so, AI generated text can contain errors, awkward phrasing, or inaccuracies. You are solely responsible for reviewing every resume before you send it to an employer, and for making sure everything in it is accurate and something you can speak to. Do not submit a resume you have not read.
7. No guarantee of outcomes
A higher match score, a cleaner format score, or a Pro subscription does not guarantee an interview, a job offer, or any employment outcome. Hiring decisions are made by employers based on many factors outside our control. Applyr is a writing and scoring tool, not a placement service.
8. Intellectual property
You keep ownership of the content you provide (your experience, your words, your resumes). By using the Service, you grant us the limited right to process that content in order to generate, score, and store your resumes as part of the Service. The Applyr name, logo, and the Service itself (excluding your content) are our property.
9. Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties to operate: Clerk for authentication, Convex for data storage, Stripe for payment processing, and the OpenAI API for generating and scoring resume content. Your use of the Service is also subject to those providers doing their part reliably; we are not responsible for outages or issues originating from a third-party provider, though we will work to route around them where we can.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that scores or generated content will be accurate or suitable for your circumstances.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Applyr and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of income, profits, or opportunities (including a missed job opportunity), arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 6 months before the claim arose.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where practical, notify you (for example, by email or an in-app notice). Continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Quebec, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Quebec.
