Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 27, 2026
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Applyr collects, how we use it, where it is stored, and the choices and rights you have. Applyr is a resume tailoring tool for developers, and the data we collect exists to make that work: to write, score, and store your resumes.
2. What we collect
- Account information: when you sign up, our authentication provider Clerk collects your email address, name, and profile image, and, if you use Google sign-in, basic profile details from Google. We receive your Clerk user ID and this basic profile information; we do not receive your password.
- Resume content and job descriptions: anything you type, upload, or paste into Applyr to build a resume or score a match: work history, skills, projects, and the job descriptions you check your resume against.
- Public GitHub data, if you choose to connect it: with your permission, Applyr reads your public repositories, merged pull requests, and languages used to suggest resume evidence. This access is read-only and limited to public data; we never read or store your source code, and you choose exactly what gets used before anything is added to your resume.
- Payment information: if you subscribe to Pro, payment is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number; we only receive confirmation of your subscription status and enough detail (like a Stripe customer ID) to manage billing.
- Basic usage counters: to enforce free tier and daily usage limits and to keep the Service reliable, we track lightweight counters like how many times you have used certain features.
3. The free public scan is not stored
The free format scan at /scan does not require an account. The resume file you drop there is analyzed to produce your format score and is then discarded: it is not saved to our database, and nothing about it persists once your scan result is shown, unless you go on to create an account and separately choose to build or save a resume.
4. How we use your information
- To generate, tailor, and score your resumes against job descriptions you provide, using the OpenAI API. We do not use your data to train AI models, ours or anyone else's.
- To determine your plan entitlement (Free or Pro) and enforce the usage limits attached to it.
- To operate your account: authentication, saving your resumes and profile, and billing.
- To keep the Service secure and working as intended, including basic abuse prevention.
5. Where your data lives
Applyr is built on a small number of infrastructure providers, each handling a specific job:
- Convex: our application database, hosted in the United States. Your resumes, profile data, and usage counters live here.
- Clerk: authentication and account management.
- Stripe: payment processing and billing for Pro subscriptions.
- OpenAI: the AI models that generate and score resume content. Resume content and job descriptions are sent to OpenAI's API to produce results, subject to OpenAI's own data handling terms.
6. Retention and deletion
We keep your account data and resumes for as long as your account is active, so you can come back and keep working on them. If you delete your account through Clerk, that deletion is propagated to Applyr automatically: your user record and every resume tied to your account are removed from our database as part of that same cascade. This is generally irreversible, so make sure you have exported anything you want to keep first.
7. We do not sell your data
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising. We share data only with the service providers listed in Section 5, to the extent needed to run Applyr, and where required by law.
8. Cookies
Applyr uses only the cookies our authentication provider, Clerk, needs to keep you signed in and your session secure. We do not use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party tracking cookies today. If that changes, we will update this policy.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under privacy laws such as Quebec's Law 25 and the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), including the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct it, and request its deletion. You can exercise most of these directly: edit your profile and resumes in the app, or delete your account to remove your data. For anything else, or to make a formal request, contact us at youcefbenab@gmail.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.
10. Children
Applyr is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age required to enter into a binding agreement in their jurisdiction.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where practical, notify you.
